CSU Ballet Conservatory - Performances

SnowflakesBackstage2004 The Columbus Ballet performs the Nutcracker with orchestra and choir each fall at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. The performance dates for 2008 are November 29 & 30. Nutcracker auditions are open to any dancer or actor in the valley area. These auditions will be held on August 23, 2008. Volunteers are also needed to help with this production. Call David Herriott at 706.641.5030 for further information. Season tickets will be available in July. The season includes Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and the Russian National Ballet performing the full-length Don Quixote ballet.

Columbus Ballet will also perform the classic fairtale Sleeping Beauty and more at the Springer Opera House on Saturday March 28, 2009 at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m. The program will include a shortened version of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty staged by David Herriott as well as a few short new works. Pam Walden is one of the choreographers who has set a new work for the company. Tickets are available at the Springer Box Office or call 706.327.3688. The Columbus Ballet Conservatory will ask their students to participate in a demonstration performance at CSU's Fine Arts Hall on May 19th. This will be an informal demonstration in normal dance attire with accessories, such as a colored skirts and ribbons for the hair. Boys will be in normal attire.

The Columbus Ballet is the non-profit company that performs the Nutcracker in the fall and a company repertory performance in the spring that includes one act from a classical ballet and new works. Check Calendar of Events for current dates and information. The company also performs at festivals and schools in the valley area. Girls with at least one year of pointe and boys who are at least 11 years old will be eligible to audition for the company. Company auditions will be held once a year on the third Saturday of August (August 16,2008).

All auditions are held at the Rankin Arts Center, 1004 Broadway, 2nd floor.
