Mission and vision statements written to guide university

The following mission and vision statements were written by CSU’s Strategic Planning Commission as part of the reaccredidation self-study process overseen by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. These are intended to guide the university from 2006 through 2011, when another self study will be undertaken.

CSU mission focuses on fostering growth

Columbus State University’s mission is to promote educational, economic, social and cultural growth in Georgia and beyond. The university is dedicated to excellence in teaching in a student-centered environment, research and creative activities, service to the region and the state, and community engagement through university-community partnerships. This mission will be achieved within the context of the mission of the University System of Georgia and the Core Mission Statement for State Universities of the University System of Georgia.

Vision statement targets academic quality

Columbus State University will be readily recognized as an institution of choice for its academic quality at every level and for its nationally acclaimed liberal arts, science and professional programs.
